Westfield Cottages

Doors and Windows. To maintain the character of the cottage the doors and windows are made of wood. By it’s very character wood does not always stay where it was put and you may experience some sticking. Please let us know if you are having a particular problem and we will rectify it. Your French doors open outward, please take particular care during windy spells not to let them blow backwards. In order to avoid damage to the cottage for which you are liable:- PLEASE MAKE SURE ALL WINDOWS, ESPECIALLY ROOF LIGHTS ARE CLOSED BEFORE GOING OUT AND DURING WET OR WINDY WEATHER.

Water. Please be aware that the water pressure is quite high. Your hot water does exactly what it says it gets hot, please take care when using the hot taps as again they may be higher pressure than you are used to.

Television. Your television enjoys good reception of all the major freeview stations. The local TV stations are BBC North and ITV Yorkshire.

Heating. Your heating is controlled by a room thermostat in the living room. If you find the living room temperature is about right but the bedroom is too hot / cold, the bedroom temperature can be adjusted individually using the thermostatic valve on the radiator. The heating is available to you 24 hours a day however we would ask that you turn down the heating if you are going to be away for any spell of time. The heating is very efficient and you will find the temperature is restored very quickly on your return.

The Grounds. You are welcome to use the grassland to the rear of the cottages for ball games etc. The paddock to the front of the cottages is also available for walking and recreation. Please keep away from the sewerage treatment plant (big green thing) in the front paddock. The lawned area near to the greenhouses and the paddock to the front of the farmhouse are not available for guests use. For your safety and in order to avoid damage to our property or nuisance to other guests:- NO BALL GAMES, CYCLES, SCOOTERS OR SIMILAR WITHIN THE COURT YARD.

Shops. There is a convenience store situated on Newmarket which is about a mile away. Turn right on to the lane, at the end of the lane turn left and at the junction turn right. The shop is a few hundred yards along on the right hand side (Co-op). Louth town centre has an abundance of shops and supermarkets. Market days are Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Fire Hazards. Because we have combustible materials on site including up to 5000 litres of heating oil and neighbouring fields with combustible crops our insurers have imposed the following conditions:-
Although smoking is not permitted within the cottages smoking is still permitted within the grounds, however please make sure that used smoking material is disposed of in a safe and appropriate manner in order that we can continue to allow this.
